Software Alert – July 2010 Emsisoft, the parent company of A-Squared Free is removing ASquared from the market and replacing it with a paid version. After researching this new version, PCMD has decided NOT to recommend this new Emsisoft product to our clients. At this time, we recommend the removal of ASquared and the installation of Malware Bytes. To remove the A-Squared Free software: For Win XP users: From your START menu (lower left corner of your screen), click on the “Control Panel”. From the “Control Panel” choose the “Add/Remove Programs” icon. Locate your ASquared software (listed alphabetically), click on the icon and DELETE the program. For Win 7/VISTA users: From your START menu (lower left corner of your screen), click on the “Control Panel.” You may have either the “Uninstall a Program” option, or you may have a “Programs and Features” button. Either way, locate the ASquared software and follow the prompts to remove the program. Please remove ASquared completely before attempting to download Malware Bytes. After much research, we have decided to recommend Malware Bytes free software as a substitute for A-Squared. This software is very sophisticated, and quite effective. Malware Bytes is not as user-friendly as other programs we’ve used. However, as the web gets more complicated, so must the security software. You may click on the link below to download the software. Peace, PCMD At PC-MD, we want to be your local resource for computer repair and technical support.
With over 2700 client relationships in our data base, we hear the concerns of our patrons and we listen!!
Do any of these issues sound familiar? Would you like to deal with local owners and technicians for your repair? Should you be able to just “drop by” to check the progress of your computer? Do you want a price quote for the service before signing on the dotted line? What if you have an issue after the computer is repaired? Will you be able to speak to the technician that performed your repair? If your computer is not worth the cost of the repair, will you be told the truth? Will you be offered advice about the causes and prevention of viruses?
The goal at PC-MD is to provide our clients with complete, quality service, at a fair price. Major repairs often lead to follow-up questions. Our shop embraces an open-door, open-phone policy. The technicians you’ll meet are highly-skilled independent contractors who take great personal pride in both their technical knowledge and in their interpersonal skills. There is never a charge for diagnosis and the total charge for repair is always quoted up front. When you come to PC-MD with a problem, we’ll do our best to find the solution. Whether mild, moderate, or terminal—you’ll get the truth. Since 2002 (when we started keeping track) PC-MD has created over 2700 client relationships. If you’re a first time caller, our team looks forward to meeting your needs. If you’re already a client, thank you for your loyalty and for your many referrals.
